Excuses, excuses. This 'scribbling' doesn't happen at all in a *real*
operating system, or even in Windoze XP!

It doesn't happen on RISC OS either, except with very, very elderly
software (usually in the context of copyright protection). And read the
comments on zero page posted by somebody else. And then read the part
you snipped. At least you never have to reinstall the operating system.

Whereas, on Windoze, it's perfectly possible to overwrite the OS...

If it's version 3.1 or something.
