Hmm. Sadly Oook has got itself listed as a site in the "Games"
category of the evil censorware in use by my employer. I could read it
there when I got home, but my wife is a far more diligent censor than
my boss ...
Ideas and example pictures may be viewed at:http://www.runegold.org/angband/graphic_ideas.html.
I have to say, I've not been tempted by graphics so far, but those
look really good. Can I just ask why the direction keys are off-by-
one? In the UnAngband pic (next to the Civ2 pic), you have 1 as due
west when you could have made it SW - that would make the numpad keys
have the same directions as they do in ascii mode. I know the display
is rotated by 45 degrees, but it would feel less different, I think.
The intention in Unangband is to have isometric mode controlled via mouse. The
isometric code in Un is very much proof of concept at the moment, btw, but good
for screen shots (if you ignore some of the visual artefacts).
These are David Gervas' 54x54 isometric tiles, which do look really good.
Those pictures are almost enough to convince me to use graphics. Very
nice!
(BTW: the scroll is hanging in the air. It needs to be projected
parallel to the ground.)
