Re: Angband on a BlackBerry?

Yep, Zaurus is running Linux. The original OS is a rather outdated
version of Qtopia. Now there are several alternative distros
available. "pdaX" is the one I am using now. It is a full-blown X and
GTK2 environment and also runs a lot of apps in QT, Python, etc.
One major reason for choosing pdaX is that it turns Zaurus into a real
mini laptop. Compilation can be done easily onboard using a GCC
toolchain and following the standard "configure && make && make
install".
So I would say this distro is not really an "embedded" version of
linux any more. Interestingly the flatform is actually very sleek and
easy to use.
If you just take a quick look at http://www.oesf.org/forums/ , you may
be amazed by the active fan base there. :-)

Sidenote: My device is called SL-C1000, a clamshell model running on
Intel PXA270 xscale 416mhz processor, sporting a VGA touchscreen,
keyboard, mini-usb host and dual card (CF/SD) slots. Now the cheapest
you can get is from pricejapan.com which costs just something around
EUR 200. There are a few newer models as well with built-in microdrive
(4gb or 6gb). They all look similar and have the same form factor. The
size is about an average Pocket PC.

Not only these:
I have compiled the following for Sharp Zaurus, running a full X

Entroband, ToME, Furyband, Quickband, NPPangband, Hellband, Frazband,
LinuxRogue, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Omega, Avanor, AliBaba, glHack,
Slash'EM. The packages can be found in this giant thread:

Sorry, forgot about that. When you say a full X environment, does the Zaurus
run a version of Linux, or is it something more specialised? Is building for it
like doing a Linux build?
