In that case you can kill him with oil flasks, provided you bought
phase door scrolls. It's well worth it since it will bump you up 4-5
levels. Start by pelting him with all the magic missiles you have,
then switch to throwing oil. It doesn't always work, but it does
often enough that it's worth trying.
