Rather strange...

Something weird happened to me. I have a drakish monk,
and he is on level 8 now. I pressed alt+q to check the stats.
I was unarmed, because they are so good at that. It said
that my damage is 1d15+8, which is rather good. Then,
after a few turns, I checked it again. it said 1d3+5. I changed
nothing, except that I put a ring of acid resistance on. I took
it off, no changes. Can somebody explain this to me?
