A spanish newbie, I wanna advice

Hi all, I'm enjoing a lot ADOM.

I'm nearly started to play roguelikes and I found impossible to not to
cheat copying and pasting the save files to preserve my character
integrity.

Maybe it's because I allways get a wizard, maybe is a difficult
character to start with.

And... I tried to play without cheat that way, but is masochism to to
start over again and again and get killed with silly things and sudden
death... for example I got a pretty average winzard level 7 and while
going to the tiny girl dog quest, suddenly a trap of a rock hitting my
head got me die :( Or when you are on high and easy level, but you
found a nasty elemental creature equal to your elemental spells,etc
etc.

So I found playing roguelikes in a legal way is so frustrating. Really
do you all enjoy dying and starting over again?

Nobody make cheats to preserve the save files?

Come split the truth?

Maybe I'm so really bad playing this kind of games. Some advice for a
frustrated newbie?
