I also forgot to say in my longer answer... the 'Leon' Test ROM may boot
an otherwise FUBAR board and get the LEDs flashing, and all PIAs strobing
hi-lo-hi-lo. Then you can work from there and fix what's wrong. It also
exercises the RAMs when you press the diag button to check 5101 CMOS RAM
and 6810 RAM (2 x 2114 Rams on System 7 and probably above).
We should really, really ask Leon Borre if we can translate or just copy
verbatim his Repair Info to the Wiki. It would also be cool to be able
to host his test ROMs, or link directly to the right ones from each section.
Last time I was in touch, Leon was recovering from an illness (wishing
him the best, and a speedy recovery here). I have not seen him post but
once or twice here since.
He is the 'uber geek' of low level MPU board repairs, I feel that without
what he coded and wrote up we could not repair many of the pinball boards
and the world of pinball would be a darker place. For me at least, and I
hope others fell the same.
Leon's site is here (hard to navigate, worth the effort). Amazing stuff:

First thing to do: Click the English button.
Traslation by Aeneas Verhe, another good guy from belgium. His site:

Peace.

I am about to start troubleshooting a Williams System 8 board. It does
absolutely nothing on thus 7 segment display. I know the processor is good.
I want to know what it would do if there isn't a game rom in any Williams
system 3-11. Do I get anything on the display? Any suggestions as to what I
should check?
I accidentally put X in the title, it is a Pennant Fever. I already know
what I need o check into by your posts. My fuse for display high voltage
immediately blows, so I need to fix that and see if the board boots. I know
that as soon as I turn it on the fuse blows, so I need to try and isolate
it to either the power board or the MPU.
