I'm thinking of picking up a TOM next since I can't seem to find an IJ
or ST:TNG close enough to me. I've only played it a few times, but I
remember thinking it was fun and my fiance liked it a lot. I went and
read some of the reviews on IPDB, most are positive, but some people
complain that it's boring or not challenging, while others complain
that the game has problems with balls getting stuck.
I was curious what the general consensus was on here. Can you give me
your feedback on TOM from a playability perspective (long-term
replayability too) and also a maintenance perspective?
Thanks!

P.S> If it helps, my current machines are FunHouse, T2, and RoadShow.
RS I find easy, but fun to play again and again because of the depth
of play. I think T2 is not as easy as roadshow, but still very fun
even if it lacks the depth of RS. FH I enjoy, but it's more
challenging than the other two. I find that non-pinballers tend to
gravitate to RoadShow or T2. FH seems to appeal to them based on the
theme, but after a game or two, they want something easier.
Considering you can find ToM in just about every top 10 pins of all
time list, how can you go wrong? I wish I could find/afford a ToM,
but I can't. Its my fav pin of all time cuz I played a thousand games
on it as a kid. I never got tired enough of it to stop pumping
quarters into it day after day! Was great for competition. & yes, no
other pin looks & sounds better, especially at night, than ToM. & if
you want something that company would love, what better than a ToM?
It can suck anybody into its trance! & while its challenging enough
for most pinheads its also easy enough for noobs to pick up & play
without much confusion.
I don't care about deep rulesets & half the time I don't even know
what people are talking about when they complain about lack of depth.
Its pinball, ToM is great fun, the end. ToM can be plenty
challenging, & the beauty about pins is that you can tweak difficulty
if need be. Also, ToM would be a great compliment to your other 3
pins, as its theme & play is totally different than what you have.
Whereas STTNG & IJ are widebody superpin's just like your RS. So I
think ToM would fit in best with your collection. Which, btw, I'm
jealous of your current 3 pins as well.
