Why is there is so much hoopla for LED bulbs in pins?
Is this part of the green movement?
Is everyone just jumping on board to be a follower and say they do it
too?
I just don't get it, standard bulbs are just fine.
LEDs are not original, and they look a bit off. The light is mis-
directed or too bright in many cases.
Not to mention the absurd prices. What does it cost, $200 per game to
outfit with LEDs? I could not go through $200 worth of standard bulbs
on one of my pins in 3 lifetimes. And the 5 cents a day you save in
energy bills and the 2% reduced stress on your boards really makes a
huge difference lol.
Can someone explain?
Personally I think it all came from a slowdown in the hobby. Hardly
any new pins are being made, and most peoples collections are
complete. So being the addicts you are you all just needed to find
some other silly useless thing to throw a couple hundred away on.
Go ahead admit it!
Suckers!
Everyone appeared to jump on board after the Tim Arnold TopCast interview....
It is interesting, however, that unlike most hobbies (classic car collection...etc), there does not seem to be much af an emphasis put on originality for pins. Clearcoated playfields, LEDs, inside cabinet art (which I totally don't understand), to name a few.
