CORRECTION... Not Ribbon cable... J1 on Sound Card
Disconect the XXXXXXXXXXX that runs between the sound board and the
CPU to determine if the hum is coming from the CPU (Since have the
sound is there too) If the hum goes away look a the elctrolytic caps
on the CPU at locations C2, C3, C24, C26, C29... Look for buldging on
the tops of the caps or leaking goo on the bottom of the caps by the
board... Those are safty releases to keep the caps from exploding...
If disconecting the ribbon cable makes no change then look at all
electrolytic caps on the Sound board for buldging or leaking... (too
many locations to list) You can tell the electrolytics they look like
a barrel... Two types Radial standing tall and axial on their sides
with wires coming out each end...
I'd guess you have a bad isolation capacitor... It's purpose is
exactly that... to clean the siganl prior to the next stage of
amplification...
ArizonaPinball will be coming online in about a month with awesome
mods, upgrades and services one of which is a complete recapping
service using audio grade polypropolene capacitors, metalized
resistors and on-board amplifiers upgrades... so not only would it
likey fix this type of problem but substantially improve the quality
of sound... More announcements coming soon...

Arizona Bruce, I disconnected the J1 connector on the sound board and
the Humming noise went away completely. From there I looked at the
electrolytic caps on the CPU and they looked fine. There was no
bulging at the end of the cap, and I didn't see any leaking either.
