I have come across a Maverick for $1200 that the display does not
work.  Is this a common problem for this machine?  Will the entire
display need to be replaced or can it be repaired?  Is this a good
price for a clean machine?

If I recall the display that came in the game was a cherry, I don't
think they are repairable.
I had to replace mine in My Mavrick when I bought it it came with a
bad display but I bought the game cheap, at the time I paid like
150.00 for it the display, but I know they have gone up. to answer
Your question, I do think they Had problems with the Cherry displays,
I had to make some wiring change don't remember what it was now, but
not a big deal.
