Not supposed to be any major distance between devices (right now). You
need to magnetic couple the devices to transfer the power. Distance
gaps will drop the magnetic effect. Most of the tech I see is items in
contact with a surface designed to charge/run a device.

As far as magnetic fields go....you are constantly bombarded with
them. These systems limit those fields which reduces the power/
distance a device can be powered.
