One more strange development, now the left flipper wont work.
The right is just fine, and the left flipper still turns the lights
on.
The only thing I can think of is a stuck switch some place.
Any and all input is welcome.

Hi Mike,
The left flipper is simply controlled by a switch... just like the
right flipper. Did a connector come unplugged some place?
Are the pop bumpers working? Pops, flippers, and outhole are all
enabled by the TILT and RESET relays. You might want to operate those
a few times by hand just to make sure there's nothing sticking.

You have stumbled onto one of the strangest Bally maladies that
occur: I've had it happen on three other games I've had in here. The
coin microswitch about has to be in place, wired and functional,
whether you ever use it or not in order to make the game kick-out
holes (and some other things) work right. How those systems are
related is beyond me, but they HAVE to be right or you get the same
symptoms you're getting. I beat my brains out for six months on an
Amigo game one time finding this all out the hard way. It had a broken
lug inside the wire tab protector sleeve and I couldn't see it. Even
when I found it, I soldered it back on out of pure desperation and lo
and behold--the game started up and played fine.
This only applies to Bally games built between 1974 and 1977.
Brian at Team EM
Well I did get the wire soldered back on to what remains of the lug,
and the other problems still exist.
The start button will now start the game no problem.
However the 3 remaining problems still remain.
Let me go into a bit more detail.
First the left flipper is dead other than turning on the lights.
(nothing more than that)
Second the #2 flip target is stuck somehow. (Turning the power off and
back on does not solve the problem.
Tripping the coin door tilt does not stop it)
The only way to stop the coil from firing is to trip the wqire that
triggers the out hole and change the ball count.
Even then the flip #2 switch is closed while the other 3 are open,
Third both kick holes don't work.... The top kicker wont trigger at
all when a ball in in the hole.
The out hole at the bottom wont kick the ball out, but what it does do
is advance the bonus score to the point that it will ring up 10s of
thousands of points but never kick the ball out to advance the ball or
player.
The common link here is I removed the play field the sand and
repainted the cabinet. ( did mask off and paper every hole on the
machine that paint or dust could get into)
Other than that I've done nothing to the machine.
Starting to get frustrating again, because it was working perfect
before this repaint project.
Please help me get this back in working (NON BUGGY) condition.
I am so close to having a collector quality machine.
I pulled this out of a damp basement and brought it back to life,
rusted , dirty, out of adjustment, and back from the dead.
I am to close to my first perfect (IMHO) machine to let it go now.
If I had my choice I'd be buried in the cabinet with the head sticking
out of the ground, and have triggers on my grave site to make it score
points by walking over it.
Where did I go wrong?
Mike
Hold up, wait a Sec, Call off the dogs.
Boy do I feel stupid.
In my paint fume, punch drunk ( OK I had 12 beers in me to , so booze
fueled and wanting to play a couple of games before midnight hit on a
Sunday state)
After I repaired the micro switch (as best I could, given the lug is
missing).
THEN noticing when I was in my haze of various substances, be it paint
or beer, I had miss placed 2 of the 3 Jones plugs on the main board of
the machine.
The machine now plays as if it was fresh from the shop.
Once again ....I feel so stupid for even bugging you kind folks with
this.
Thank you to you that responded to this pointless post.
P.S. Maybe I should wear a mask the next time I spray 4 cans of primer
and 4 cans of rustolium in one day, on top of a 12 pack.( yeah I think
that's a good sound idea, maybe even no beers)
Once again thank you to all, you that have responded to my posts have
made a difference in a persons life, Its been one of my dreams to own
a pinball machine.
And a special thanks to Al...where ever you may be, I truly belive you
are looking down on my giving me the knowledge to recognize a mistake
and how to fix it.
Warm regards
Mike( the dumb, drunk, paint hazed, fool)
