Is it possible to burn a ROM, get a correct checksum, and there still be a
small error inside ROM ?
I have one last glitch in my Centaur. If the Orb Release Tunnel is called
upon to launch a ball to the playfield (regardless of single-ball release,
or multi-ball release) it gets stuck in a loop where it keeps firing the
launch coil (coil 15) every 2 seconds, with sound effect and playfield
blackout/relight.
This keeps going forever. You have to turn the game off.
All switches work, including all the ball trough and habatrail
microswitches. All test fine in the MPU switch test. Plus ball-roll tests
activate them easily. All coils fire fine in MPU coil test.
I'm thinking the ROM has a dead end or loop in the code. Ever happen to
anybody?

KR mentioned to check the diodes, if this switch gets concussive hits
it is very possible the diode on or near that switch has been
compromised and needs replacing. If that is the issue a small dab of
clear silicone on the diode after replacement can help absorb the
shock and avoid future failure... the diode could be leaking causing
the freiking!
