I don't want a price, I'm just curious about the dynamics of buying a
game for a rock bottom price.

Yes, I bought a WPT and a WoF on the Playdium Store deal in February.
I'm not selling either anytime soon but I've seen people looking to
move them out and inevatably, there is a response to the post asking
"was this purchased for $2,500 from Canada?".

I guess my question is... does it matter?  There are detractors to
each of these two pins and plenty of cursing and bashing to go with
'em, but I wondered, what were these worth 30 days before they started
selling for $2990 CDN.  How much are they worth today considering that
this deal is no longer available?

There are plenty of people that have purchased TDK, CSI, Indy, and
even 24, within a month of buying them.  New Pin purchases are often
compared to New car, meaning that they depreciate by 10% immediately.

Thoughts?

I've had the same conversation in my head - as I'm thinking I might
put my WoF up for sale if I need room for something new.  Here's what
I'm thinking:
-The Canadian deal is over...so, there are no more "cheap" NIB WoFs
unless another deal pops up.
-We took the "risk" in ordering one from out of the country
-In the case of my WoF, I've improved it w/ white rubber, Cliffy
posts, better target foam, and dead drop foam in the scoop-ramp...and
it has a perfect glassy playfield - no woodgrain like some Stern pfs.
-Not many people are selling their WoFs

So, I think it's still retained a decent value, and those of us that
bought the Canadian one shouldn't be "punished" for doing so.  Plus -
really...only RGP knows about it...sell it to a non-enthusiast,
they'll be happy w/ their great deal.

At the end of the day, they'll sell for what someone wants to pay for
it.

I don't know if it will matter because the game itself will not be a
top-tier game to begin with. But, knowing I could have gotten then
for $2800 NIB from Canada is going to make me automatically drop my
perceived value on them HUO to $2000 or so, because I passed on it at
that price and in my mind I'm not going to pay that NIB price for a
now-used game. You may catch some people who think they were $4000
new and they'll pay $3000, but even the best HUO sterns are barely
that, so those people are more likely to go for the LOTR, TSPP, SM,
POTC.

When the dust settles, it will still be a WOF which is a lame theme to
a lot of people and will probably have the same fate as RBION as far
as value. It might play well, but if the theme isn't appealing, it
won't hold value, and the original selling price won't matter. The
Canadian deal may have just sped up the rate at which it falls to that
final value.
