Not certain how this happened but it looks like the tilt relay
coil(X30-1000) on my '55 Wms Three Deuces is fried????
I've put a DVM across the coil and it doesn't register anything, i.e. it
shows an Open Circuit.
I've done the same on the next coil over and it registers, i.e. shows just a
few ohms, so I'm pretty confident that the tilt coil is fried. Also, when I
look at the coil from the side it's all black.
The tilt circuit is pretty easy so I'm really surprised that this has
happened but I think the problem may be a shorted slam switch on the mech
board in the cabinet as both sides of the switch have continuity to the same
tab on the tilt coil when the slam switch is open??? (I'm guessing that the
screws holding the switch stack together are touching the switch blades.)
This being an old Wms woodrail, there are 18 other relays all on the relay
bank.So the question is, how do I remove the coil from the relay bank? Do I
actually have to unscrew the relay bank from the playfield which would make
it easier to unsolder the coil or is there a trick that someone has come up
with over the years?
Thank you in advance,
