My Stars could use an upgrade, is it possible to have the lights dim
after a couple minutes like the WPC settings?
How about options for different chime tunes?

Can these updates be done with a replacement or only to the mpu100
board?

OK, acquired a stern stars machine and will be adding in the various
upgrades to the software that I've done for 2 other early stern machines
(Trident and Hot hand).

So far those include

free play capable
enhanced attract mode
score blanking for non-playing players (like the newer classic ballys have)
shows HSTD before start of last ball
holds last scores when you turn on machine like later stern mpu200 games do
'flick' coin switch to clear audit mode instead of having head open and
pressing S33 on the mpu board
credits up to 99

Planned additions

'tournament' mode - change a switch inside coin door automatically sets
options for tournaments, no extra balls, free play, no specials, other
appropriate options.  No messing around with Dip switches for
tournaments.  (Planned for other stern titles too)

/10 pseudo 7 digit scoring (stars is notoriously stingy with points though)

eliminating the "2 players only" dip switch - stupidest option in the
world.  What were they thinking???

Any rules changes that anyone thinks might fly?

Thinking of:

bonus maxed out stops alternating lane lamps, just lights them all (as a
reward, 3k instead of possible 3k on each lane).

drop targets down 4th time maxes spinner lights

OR bonus maxed out next time all drops down or stars completed counts
down bonus and resets to 1000 (similar to sinbad's setup, or countdown)
