Re: Price check: HUO WPT

I'm a new WPT owner and cannot see parting with the game anytime
soon. I've done quite a bit of research before making the decision to
purchase this title as my first DMD Stern purchase. It's a terrific
game and in my opinion underrated.

It does not have the WOW factor of Spiderman or Lord of the Rings from
a Theme perspective and is absent from playfield toys, etc so will not
be a 'timeless' title as Addams family was to Williams or as LOTR and
SM is to Stern fans. Because of this, the value is quite a bit less
than the others.

I purchased mine for $2,600 delivered from Toronto NIB. I've seen
prices quoted/estimated at $1,500 - $2,000 for WPT depending on
condition so anything in that range is, I think fair.

With < 100 plays on mine so far, I wouldn't expect to get any more
than $2,000 for it, partially because it's an older title, partially
because like housing, recent sales dictate value and being the oldest
S.A.M. platform system, many people have since moved on from it. (not
to mention the crowd that had problems with the theme, or the
translite artwork, etc.) I don't see the value dropping beyond this
level assuming the condition is kept good.

I'm a classic Gottlieb collector and have titles from '63 Gigi up
through the 70s including Black Hole (one of only 3 solid state
machines that I own). WPT appeals to me because of my interest in a
card them with drop targets, a somewhat open lower playing field
combined with elements of modern games (obviously) including various
Multiball modes, special modes and a ruleset and challenge that I
won't beat for (what seems like) years of play.
