So heres the update... I am a little bit inpatient but the Docent
connectors did finally show up. I really did not have any trouble
getting them soldered up. It was quite simple in comparison to most
DB9 Serial cables for computers. I am not sure why you had so much
trouble. Crappy solder and a large tip rat shack iron perhaps? I like
to use RadioShack Cat.No 64-2051B 15W iron and Silver-Brearing Solder
High-Tech Rosin-Core .022 dia. Cat. No. 64-013E, I am not sure either
of those part numbers are current.

Two JPG's in this gallery show the connector soldering in process.
http://gallery.me.com/kevinfinisterre#100515 , The AVI shows the
result of the connector swap out. I can finally add coins, press start
and debug! The coin switches occasionally trigger a debug signal for
some reason.

Curious - what was wrong with the original connector? It looked like it was
in great shape in the picture. Why not just repin it with matching metal
contacts?

Second set of good news is that the score seems to be working now as
well, the machine appears to be properly keeping count.

New issues include, left hand drop target tries ohhhhh so hard to
reset but just can't seem to make it happen. It almost stutters a few
times and gives up. The outhole kicker simply cycles over and over and
over and over, non stop once I actually start a game. The symptoms are
on point with this post:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.pinball/browse_thread/thread/b9f53395c3a60872/6d3d69cb201858a4?lnk=gst&q=system+1+outhole+kicker#

I've attempted to do the coil test via the Ni-Wumpf interface however
after the 3rd coil is tested they seem to halt pretty instantly. The
switch tests revealed that most of the switches are fine, however
there are a few random switches that read "Clean Switch" including the
coin switch. Any tips on next steps?

Thanks
-KF
