OT:40 years ago this week, Apollo 8

Reading on CNN about this anniversary.
I kind of remember where I was when we finally landed on the moon
in July of 1969. On vacation but don't remember where.
I do recall watching in the motel room.
Just wondering...why haven't we been back since Apollo missions
ended? And why hasn't any other countries been there?

Oh, how the world was a different place back then.
Peace to all here and Merry Christmas.
Terry
