As much as politics shouldn't usually be dealt with heavily on a

certainly is the most important I've seen in my lifetime. No reason
to shove that under the rug.
Anywho, I think some people get too fanatical about who they are
voting for or what "side" they are on. I personally think that each
election is always a case of choosing the lesser of 2 evils. Just an
expression, and I'm not saying either is actually evil, but what I
mean is that both sides have their problems, baggage, and also strong
points.
I'm not into commiting to being a rep or dem, and vote based on that.
How about just voting for the best candidate, regardless of party? I
remember the last election how so many people around where I live were
really sick of bush, but still voted for him just because they are
rep, or because they just want to do what everybody else does (which
around here is vote rep).
That said, I've always liked Mccain ever since I was familiar with
him, being that political guy who fought for our country in a way that
other politicians haven't. We may not ever see another presidential
candidate that has been through and seen as much terror and war as
this guy has, first hand. Then what he went through as a POW is a
really inspiring story.
Regardless of him being a rep, and often voting with bush, he is not
bush. He isn't retarded, has tons more experience and truly knows his
stuff, plus he isn't nearly as gullible as bush and has been willing
to make decisions that go against his party's wishes. Both in war and
politics, you can't say this guy hasn't walked the walk 100x more than
bush ever has or was able to. He has his stronger and weaker points,
but so does Obama.
I do trust Mccain in matters of national security, and he is better
than bush in other areas. I do believe Mccain will do what is best
for the country, and truly does care. He won't be pressured into
things as easily as bush, which isn't easier said than done for a
president dealing with their party. Imagine an entire party, filled
with people that helped you get elected, pressuring you into making
decisions. Understand the power of each party, and how easy it
corruption can happen. The party might ask for a ethically
questionable favor from their president, the prez might not agree, but
if he doesn't then the party could very well use blackmail or other
methods to get what they want out of you, even threaten to make up
stuff that isn't true.
This is why you need a president, such as Mccain, that is older and
has been through so much in his life, and has already risked his life
for this country, to stand in there with nothing to lose, go down
swinging if need be. I do beleive Mccain would do that for us.
Better yet he knows very well how the goverment works on this level,
he has been around, not much will surprise him and he knows what to
expect, what to watch out for. As for Obama, I'm not against him at
all, which i will get into.
As much as I'm sick of bush, no doubt we don't get the full story on
everything. For all we know somebody might have threatened to kill
his family if he didn't do this or that, a move that leaves all of us
scratching our heads. He might have done things that really were in
our best interest, he might have saved us from more terrorists attacks
for all we know, except he isn't allowed to brag about it, and we
aren't allowed to get the full story on many things, or any of the
story.
People make so many of their judgements based entirely on what they
hear from the media. Which is understandable because that is how we
get all our news, but even the media can only report what the
government wants them to report to the masses. Nobody has a backstage
pass to what really goes on.
I suppose that rather than the media, one thing we can judge the
president by is simply the state of the US, but even that can be
tricky. Yes, we are having hard economic times, and a war going on.
The war no doubt has hurt the economy. But has it all possibly been
for our own good? Maybe. Again there are things going on that are
kept from us, some we might be proud to hear, some not.
Has hundreds of thousands of US lives been saved by all the cash we
sink into security? Maybe. If so, then I think most would agree that
lives are more important than money. If we ever get too soft or
become even the slightest pushover as a military power, I don't think
people understand the possible consequences.
We want. We always want. We want the economy fixed now, we want our
military home now, we want many things right now, and don't think
about the ramifications down the road. We really don't. We are
spoiled. No, the US isn't perfect and no country is, but the US is
the best country in the world to live in, even though things aren't
always perfect, and we do have tough times like anybody does.
Check this. Other countries going through an economic lapse like ours
might collapse entirely, leaving most of the population fighting with
their neighbors for the basics...food, housing, clothes.
But us, most of us aren't losing any basic needs. Sure we might not
be enjoying luxuries as we usually do, but that is no reason to curse
the country and government.
Also we fortunately have a welfare system, which I have needed to
utilize due to medical issues. If things get to the point where I
might lose some basic needs, our system has always stepped up for me
giving me food stamps, housing, and even financial help with a vehicle
to help get me back on my feet. And when I am healthy enough to work,
work has always been there when I need it and want it.
And that is the case for most people where I live. Sure, not
everybody has had good experiences when it comes to jobs or welfare,
but for the most part most people are taken care of. For those that
really try hard to look for work when they need it, they get it. For
those that really go after welfar when they need it, they get it.
Often the people complaining are those that sit around expecting
something handed to them.
Most of us have no right to be truly upset, angry, at this country. I
just love how the Hollywood stars like to get their message out there,
about the need for change and about hardships. They don't know what
hard is. Many don't even know what pain is. And I have a hard time
feeling bad that some rich people had to sell one of their 10 houses
due to the current economic problems. Have a hard time with anybody
throwing a fit when they have their basic needs fulfilled, thus they
are just complaining about needing to sell or not being able to afford
their luxuries.
Nothing gives me more of a laugh than a rich person pretending to be
democrat, because it is the cool thing to do. I'd love to see how
some of these hollywood stars truly vote, if they even vote at all.
I do think there are exceptions, I do think there are a number of well
off people out there that really want what is best for their country,
even if it might put a little dent in their wallet. But in most
cases, many rich people love to be greedy. And that is a lot of the
reason why we are in this economic mess in the first place. As much
as we all like to blame bush (and he deserves some for sure), why
can't we point the finger at our own citizens? There are a lot of
greedy bastards out there that made this mess. Blame bush for
allowing it to be so easy for many bigwigs to move their gig overseas
so they could make more money.
Baffling considering the bigwigs that are screwing thousands or
hundreds of thousands of people for their own benefit already have
more money than they and their family will ever need in a lifetime.
Now do these people really want to just secure the future of their
family and their great great great great grandchildren? In most
cases, no. Its usually about status. The rich like to brag about how
much they have, and what they have. Who can flaunt the most? These
people make me sick. The ones I hate the most are those people who
are filthy rich via inheritance and act like they are genetically
superior, and somehow deserve every penny they have.
I love the fact that somebody from a poor family can make it big in
this country and become extremely wealthy. Really, that is a good
thing, and usually they appreciate what they have, and are big
givers. People born into wealth...not so much. I'm all for
capitalism, but when entire families and generations of families are
filthy rich just because of the hard work of a rags to riches
anscestor a 100 years ago, that is a bit upsetting. You would like to
see these people need to work just to make their own way in life just
like every other person has to do, maybe use some of their wealth to
help get them started on their own ventures, but not live off of it.
I don't want to see socialism, but we do need to do something to help
out the poor in this country. If all the wealthy in the US, those who
have everything they want and need and still have tons of wealth
leftover, just gave say 5% of their wealth and put it into one big
proverbial pot, then that alone could eliminate poverty all across the
country, easily stabilize the economy and make it better than ever,
and the best part about it is that the rich are still rich, but the
poor are no longer poor. Everybody would be happy.
Or I should say everybody would be happy if greed didn't exist, as the
very wealthy would never agree to something like that.
This is where I say my piece about obama/dems. Obama does want to
take more from the rich than does Mccain, and give it to the poor, or
use it to pay for health care. Just as well either way. I think this
is great in theory, sounds like it can solve a lot of problems,
right? Maybe, but maybe not. Taxing the rich isn't as easy as it
sounds.
The millionaires and billionaires are very smart with ...
