Kind of OT: Digital photography question

I Googled like crazy on this one but came up empty. I have an idea that I'm working with, but need to know if there is a conventional process (i.e. someone who offers this service) for turning a digital image into a transparency...and here's the real twist- how large can that transparency be made? Backglass size?
