Re: Diode testing with my meter *wierd*

If I set my meter up to test Diodes/transistors I get wierd side
affects. When I test a diode they should read .2 - .7 from what I
have been reading. Well my meter gives me a measurement of 160 on some
diodes *I have tested a known working one* and 004/0004 *can't
remember which* on a different diode I tested.

Can someone tell me why it is doing this? I read the manual on how to
hook up the leads on the meter, but nothing changed. I really don't
want to spend a fortune on a meter, but I am thinking I might have to
grab one from either radio shack, home depot, or lowes.

In circuit or out of circuit? In circuit it depends on the circuit, it usually seems to work, but not 100%.

Out of circuit it should test as you say..... you aren't holding the leads while doing it are you? Take yourself out of the circuit.
