Re: Wow!!! Borygard does awesome board work.

I also had someone send me a board that they had sent to another place (a
major repair vendor) with a tag saying "faults in previous repair". Um,
sure. Some places won't touch anything they don't have first dibs on, which,
IMHO, is a cop out. Picky, picky.

Glad you got it worked out, Rick. I have also rebuilt literally hundreds of
battery roached Bally and WPC MPU's. It's work, but when it's done right,
they are very reliable. And I don't charge an arm and a leg for it, either.
Nice to see some out there do it right, at the right price..

Last week I sent Borygard the corroded MPU-35 out of my Silverball
Mania in exchange for an MPU-35 that he had previously reworked. In
that same box I stuck a non-working WPC CPU board that I've had for
years and had bought at auction for $50. The CPU was completely
trashed by someone who had removed one of the IC chips from the board
by sawing through all the legs. Unfortunately, they had also sawed
through all the traces.

I attempted to fix the board with a bunch of jumpers but never came
close to getting it to work. I then sent the CPU to two of the well
known board repair outfits. The first fellow returned it to me with a
note saying that the work required to fix the board was beyond his
capabilities. The second fellow returned it to me with a note that
simply said "Non Repairable".

I got that CPU back from Borygard today and the thing not only works
great but it looks great too! He repaired all the traces and covered
them with green mask. Wow... I was blown away by how nice it looks.
The cost to have this "unrepairable" CPU fixed was about a third of
the cost to buy a replacement WPC CPU. I couldn't be happier.
