Homebrood,

I've got to BE that decent tech, since I picked this up to learn EM's
(because, despite all reasons why I shouldn't give a damn at age 27, I
just love 'em!). Clay's guide is what I plan on studying and using,
but I do want to collect as much initial information/help here as
possible.

Ok, cool. I was in no way trying to imply that you were incapable or
some kind of rookie newbie or anything.
I am by no means an expert at all. I suggested that if you can find
one have a decent EM tech come out mainly because I went through a lot
with my EMs in the begining and when I got stuck I took a game to Expo
and the tech I got to fix it was phenomenal! In an hour and a half he
litterally cleaned and adjusted every relay in my machine and showed
me many things that only a hands on in person explanation would fully
show. I was floored when he showed me how easy it was to remove clean
and adjust the score reels especially and that has helped me imensley
since then. Also I wish there was a good video showing close up how to
properly adjust a relay as that is one other thing I was clueless on
but he showed me the right way and it was basically easy once he
explained it. The two main things I learned were...

1.) Get a switch blade adjusting tool, don't try to adjust relay
switches with a needlenose!

2.) Lighting!!! Get a really nice and bright utility light on your
work so you can see well. You'd be surprised how much easier it is to
adjust switches and relays when you can really see what you are doing.

I love EMs too they are so cool... I know in a short time you'll be
polishing and cleaning and the fixing part will be a non- issue. Once
you get these machines working properly they rarely break down. I've
had My Spirit of 76 for about 3 years and only one real breakdown and
that was when I brought it to expo to the tech. And my Super Spin has
never broken down since I got it at last years expo. My SS machines
are pretty reliable but the EMs are the only ones I would take to a
show and not worry about in the least!

P.S. That is a very fun game by the way, I played several games on it
at various shows...

Homebrood,

Hey man, thanks again for sticking with me. I appreciate it.

Alright I checked the switch actions. They area all literally dead-
same.

1-8: off - on -on

9: on - on - on

0: off - off - off

I then used a little superfine sandpaper on the contacts of the first
and third (from left, i.e. the 10,0000-90,000 and 100-900 units).

Tried the game again.

First score reel (10,000-90,000) is now properly resetting.

Third from left still is NOT. Clean the normally-closed switch inside
the unit indicating wheel motion.

Try again, no dice, third reel still not moving.

Hmmm...

And that little coil from the video is still clackety-clacking in
perfect time with the score motor.

Any other ideas? I am going to scour the guide and see what I come up
with in the mean time.

Sounds like your getting close, are the wires on that real thats still
not moving looking ok, none loose, or maybe two touching eachother or
something? Look close, I had one with a loose wire I did'nt see right
away...
