The header is the only other part that I didn't replace. However this
one "beebs out" fine as well. I put one end of the multimeter on the
tip of every header and than traced it to the next part in the line.
And everything was OK.
However I will replace it anyhow.
The solder splatter I will check again.
I also forgot to add. Before replacing the LED the switch was out.
When I touched two feet of the 4n35 IC the switch would close. I think
trough the conduction of my fingers. Now I can't seen to replicate
this anymore. The following might be logical but I want to mention it
to get the story complete. When I remove the 4n35 the led goes out and
the switch opens as well.
