The movie has already come out in theatres and DVD, but what potential
for a pin! As I watched this for the 10th time yesterday on cable, my
mind was rushing with ideas on how this would be made into a pin.

The object is to fight through Xerxes' Persian army in Thermopylae,
using a variety of shots to inflict "kills." The fancier the combos,
the more soldiers are killed. All the creatures, immortal soldiers and
man-beasts will be fought throughout the game until you reach the
wizard mode and die (it happened in the film) with honor.

SOUND:
Insert 1 coin:  Leonidas screams "Spaaaaartaaaaans!!!"

Insert 2nd coin: Crowd of 300 screams in unison: "Aoooooooh, aoooooh,
aoooooh!!!"

-Music will be the same rocking soundtrack like the film. It plays at
a steady pace during regular play, but picks up during multiball or
special modes.  My favorite music is when they start fighting the
immortals (also found at beginning of end credits).

-Dilios the Narrator: The narrator of the film calls all the shots
with a powerful, booming voice.

-Classic soundbites will be used throughout gameplay at the right
time. Such as:
 Multiball: "Prepare For Glory!"
Multiball 2 (pushing Persians off cliff) "Let's give them something
to drink!"
Wizard Mode: "This is where we fight! This is where they die!"
Too many more to list.

MODES (sorry if I'm not using the proper Greek terminology)

-Ascent to the Hot Gates
-1st wave of Persians
-Elephant Army
-Immortal Multiball
-Battle For Thermopylae (Wizard Mode)
-Fight in the Shade: Game goes dark like AFM strobe multiball, but the
dark pulses to simulate the arrows blackening the sky.

PLAYFIELD:

Game designed by Steve Ritchie or Dennis Nordman

-Spear Shot. Similar to cannon shot of T2. Other toys include an upper
playfield including cliff drop targets to simulate the scene where the
Persians are tossed into the sea.

-Ramps and pop bumpers are colored red to contrast the black/sepia
tones of the rest of the game.

-ABSOLUTELY NO giant head of Xerxes, Leonidas or (shudder) Ephialtes
on playfield.

-Possibly a MM/AFM-esque toy in the middle representing either Xerxes'
platform, or a Persian phalanx to plow through.

-Ramps resemble rocky cliffs of the narrow passes. Ball flow is fast.
Multiple ramp shots play out the slow-mo fight scenes on the DMD. The
more combos, the longer the movie plays:

ARTWORK:

Backglass: Similar  to T2, but with a pissed off Leonidas in the
middle, flanked by 2 fellow Spartans. In the background is a massive
crowd of either the Persians or the 300 soldiers. Lots of flashlamp
action.

-Cabinet: Has sepia, black & red tones of film. Headboard side has the
angry Leonidas, or snapshot of Persians being pushed off cliff. Body
side has the bloody 300 logo with tagline "Prepare for glory!"
scrawled underneath. I think of the end credits for the cab artwork.
Alternate "Night" artwork decals available too.

-Cabinet speaker panel: A patina/rock surface with blood spatters.
Speaker covers are the golden shield designs.

-Flipper Guards & railing: Either a gold or chrome red design. Guards
can have the embossed weapon designs for extra pimpage.

-Playfield: Same film colors as cabinet, but also some black/blue art
to resemble the night shots (possibly). Red ramps & pop bumpers to
stand out. Molded rock surfaces to capture organic look of the movie.

I heard they're planning a 300 sequel, so let's hope Stern can do it!
-Joel

Make it happen and I'll buy one. :)

This is one of my favorite 300 parodies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3CRE9kFRvo

PS - a sequel sounds like a bad idea to me.
