Re: TECH: what the hell is going on with my sys80 CPU!???

I agree with Dan here. Except my nemesis is the Sys11 CPU board. I had one with that came up with a U10 failure message on occasion. I checked the U10 PIA, all the associated chips in the circuit, the incoming 5V, the 12v, changed the 5v filter cap, changed a resistor out of spec. on the 5v circuit, and still never resolved the problem.

The odd thing is that I just looked a Cyclone last week, and it came up with a U10 failure message once out of approx. 40 - 50 power cycles. The odd thing is that the original problem child was an 11B too. Is there some kind of bad design that this happens on 11B's, or was I just lucky? :-|

The main problem with Sys80's is they just don't like to tell you what's up when they're sick.

Hi Vince,

maddening yes, but that's the fun! "Hurts so good", to paraphrase a mediocre John Mellencamp song...

Please check the message I posted before about the traces on your board.

I also forgot to say...I heard band saws prefer to eat WPC-95 boards, so please avoid feeding it System 80 boards... :-)

Best,
Dan
