So, I had the backglass of my Silverball Mania I am almost finished,
sitting up on the floor in the corner. Been there for a few weeks. I
had triple thicked the backglass to stop the minor flaking that was
occuring at the bottom. So my basement decides to leak water and
saturates the carpet in exactly the spot where the backglass is
sitting. No big deal, I pick it up and move it to the other side of
the room, with the dry carpet. Well, looking at it last night, seems
water got underneath the Krylon or something because the whole bottom
of the backglass has started to bubble up. It's not flaking off yet,
but I know that is to come. Is there anything I can do to stop
this...ie Re-Krylon it, or am I fundamentally screwed? Thanks

Super GLUE!!!....Super glue the pieces back down. Then you don't have
to worry because when you reapply TT it will loosen the whole thing
and possibly damage your glass more. Been there done that. TT is
great to cover the glass but on thicker silk screened glasses I seal
the edge down with super glue and then apply TT. also applies to
glasses with TT that have re peeled. Seen this way too many times.
People can say all they want but I have restored well over 50 glasses
and have learned my lesson. I have caused more harm to Bally glasses
because of poor techniques with TT. Using TT to hold down pieces is a
bad idea. Will not work long term. Seen too many times relifting
because TT It is not made to hold down the compresive tension of the
screen and the TT also is compresive so long term not good. I used SG
to glue down pieces one at a time and then TT it. Works great.
I have literally seen glasses crack and flake with TT over time.
Especially ones with previous lifting. I used to believe in TT on
pieces and the wrap technique but that also has failed me. I quit
that after doing a job on my Buddies Nitro. Now I do the SG and then
TT.
