Re: Tech: Cyclone

FIXED FIXED FIXED!!!

I wish I could say the issue was "X", but will all that was done, not
sure what root cause ulitmately was. I buzzed out the relay socket,
that was fine, so I looked again at the possible power issues coming
from the AC pins. I found F8 blown last night and replaced, now all
is working and wonderful. Relay is clicking, all coils and flashers
are good. All the fuses were checked before the weekend (see above),
not sure if my monkeying blew it since it was last checked or what. I
replaced it and the game lit up like a Christmas tree.

This little exercise has really helped me utilize the schematics a
little and understand them better. A great learning experience.

Scott- Thanks for sticking with me!!! It was a long road, you really
lead me down it with good options to look at, and helped me learn. I
have Jokerz! sitting across the garage waiting for the same treatment,
I can certainly use all of this knowledge working on that one. Thank
you for being patient. Nice work.

Yup was the correct spec.  I have a feeling that the relay isn't the
issue.  I may have jumped the gun replacing it, but I was grabbing at
straws at the time.  It does have the clip to hold it.  I'm going to
check the fuse holders carefully, the fuses are good, but maybe there
is a cracked connection there or something.  Nothing I noticed off
hand, but worth a closer inspection.

I used gator clips from the batts to the relay pins.  The new relay I
put in is removeable, and the soldered connections to the pad are all
fine.  I will try and reground the transistor tonight and retest.

Hmmm, I wouldn't have used a removable relay - does it have the spring
clip to hold it securely to the base at least?

This should be pretty easy to test then.  Ground the a/c select
transistor with a jumper wire since there's no large coil, etc on the
other end it can stay activated.

With the socket empty, measure between ground and the pin on the socket
for both the coil feed voltage (should be +25) and also continuity
between the pin that goes to the a/c select line.

You'll know then the socket is ok...... you can also let the solenoid
test do this test (the a/c select) to ensure that the transistors are good.

It probably goes without saying that the relay is the same specs are the
one you replaced?
