Re: Mylar Glue Removal - use Orange Power

Frankly, I have achieved excellent results with alcohol on WMS
playfields from the 80s through WPC.

I like the fact that alcohol evaporates completely and is an excellent
degreaser. I am always worried about leftover non-volatile compounds
that may affect clearcoat or mylar adhesion.

I got a can of this from pinrestore and have used it to remove mylar. Does a

I soak a rag in goo gone and lay it over the area with mylar glue. Let it
sit for 5 minutes and remove.

With the Orange Power, I did similarly, but instead put some towels around
the glued area to soak up any orange power that ran away from the area where
mylar was, gave it a good spritz of orange power, waited 5 minutes or so and
then removed with a fake 'credit card' like I constantly get in the mail
with CC offers.

It did a nice job removing the remaining adhesive when replacing beer seal
though.

I want to add my vote for Orange Power for removing the glue leftover after
removing mylar. I didn't want to spend ~$20 bucks to try it ($7.95 + $10
for shipping), but I figured my time was worth more than that. Before
ordering, I had tried various methods using the following:

Goo Gone Spray Jel - did little
Goo Gone Pro Power - did little
Naphtha - did little
Denatured Alcohol - did little

I sprayed on the Orange Power, waited about 5 minutes and was able to
scrap
off almost all of the glue. I think a light second application will get
it
all. I then will follow with either Naptha or the Alcohol and Novus #2.
I
only wish OP came in a liquid form instead of spray can so I could better
control the application. I cut up a container from a half-gallon orange
juice bottle to make a shield to help control the overspray.
