Flow was MUCH better with more angle. Same with my TZ. One tends to
think it will hurt the flow, but often the opposite is true.
Agreed,
Trapped ball shots can suffer on underpowered flipper pins if you
increase the incline.
But rolling shots coming from the inlanes with increased incline
(within reason), are generally rolling faster at the time you flip,
and this forward momentum seem to add to the strength of the shot,
actually increasing my success rate at getting up steep ramps. Makes
those 80's superwide pins a lot more fun with less float time between
shots too.
Steeper incline can also reduce side drains on games with "tall"
outlane entrances, as the ball does less horizontal back and forth
movment and tends to drop quicker to a bumper or rubber where you can
give it a nudge.
For some reason all my system 11's play best very steep, maybe that's it (the ramp thing)..... I know I was contemplating selling off my tri zone, but at 7 degrees the game plays great! I have 3" levelers all the way out, and I might remove the lock nut from the fronts to get a bit more angle on it.
2" flipper games might not go too well with too much incline. I don't like when the ball seems glacial though on any SS game.
