I agree
As a seller, it's your job to know the value of your item.
Want it sold quick? Sell it for less and it sells easier.
If I sell something for $10, and someone can flip it for $100, good for them - if I sold it for $10, it was worth $10 to me!

I'm recently irritated at the negative commentary on "lowball offers".
Unfortunately, it's gotten a bad rep because of "the first guy that
gets there-- gets a deal and *then* informs the seller of what they
have, basic dishonesty about the value of an item being sold... You
know where I'm going with this. Sure, everyone wants to get a
bargain-- but misleading someone about the value of what they're
selling is dishonest. Plain and simple. Offering what you can afford
and taking a chance that the seller accepts it, that's respectable.
Oh, and don't assume that everyone doesn't know what it is they're
selling... My grandmother, a very well-off lady, used to go into high
class stores not "all dressed up" to see how people treated her. As a
young girl, I was there watching. Pretty amazing, actually.
As someone said in a previous thread, "I offered what I could afford,
and they rejected it." Done, and done. I recently had a *ton* of stuff
on craigslist for sale locally. I listed a great drumset for $350-- a
girl called me and asked if I would take $280. I said, "Sure!" and she
asked if I could wait until she cashed her check. Again, "sure!"...
One guy emailed and asked if I would take $25 for something related to
home brewing beer. I said, "$101.72, and it's yours." It was a deal,
and... Could I hold onto it for a week until he gets paid. Sure! It
was a liquidation sale at my place. I let a soundboard, microphone and
piccolo snare go for $150. One kid came over to play the drums, and
really liked the snare (didn't go with the $280 kit the girl got
'cause the stand and pedal were worth more), stand and kick pedal...
He came over to look once... Then when I relisted it separate from the
whole drum kit-- he called back and played with it-- then bought it
(Him: "I shouldn't be spending money on drum equipment... I'll hide
this from my folks until I go back to college.") It was like, $130
that I let go for $80.
Pinball related, you ask? I had an EBD:LE here... I didn't like it--
didn't work right. Local guy had a Taxi I wanted. Partial trade. I
still gave him cash. Saw that EBD up on eBay a few weeks ago. Pulled
before auction end, but was already getting more than I sold it to him
for.
Do I care? No. Left my hands, not mine-- don't care!
