Re: Rottendog Anouncement

A few of points.

Do a search of this group for "Tech rottendog" and see how many hits you
get. That's just the ones that decided to ask here. I am sure there are many
others that bought non-working product that never posted about it here,
because Jim's a standup guy.

People seem to think criticizing often non-working products is a personal
attack. It's not.

People seem to think "new" is better than "repaired". It's not, if the
repairs are executed properly.

Judging from the rate of out-of-box failures with these products, I am led
to believe that they are never tested. This means the manufacturer is using
his customers as test-beds. What if a manufacturing error or design flaw
causes damage to other components in a game? The manufacturer has no way of
knowing about the problem until when? What if a design problem or component
spec problem causes other component failures two years from now.

What qualifications does Jim have to be designing replacement circuit
boards? I have never seen any credentials posted, and don't think it's an
unreasonable request. How does he do it?

He brought this on himself with this sub-moronic post.

Have a good day.

I'l post my $.02 and say that Jim is a stand-up guy that stands by his
product. I had problems with his Sys 11 PS causing speaker hum in a
Pinbot. I worked with Jim in trying to reach a resolution by swapping
components but never got the problem corrected to my satisfaction.
Jim refunded my purchase price - even though I had purchased through
Marco - AND he let me keep the board. Can't get better customer
service than that.

If not for Jim's efforts, a lot of games may have ended up in a scrap
heap. How anybody could knock those efforts in inconceivable. Purist
or not, if you can improve a shitty design, then by all means do so.
