Re: Tech: Moulin Rouge First Pass Busted/Working Assessment

I care!! I've been following your thread with eager anticipation of
the next installment!! And I don't think it matters how many pins
you've brought back to life...that first power up is a thrill. :o)

1. When I installed the pbresource made old style rollover buttons,
they seem to stick out of the playfield a bit too much. Is it ok to
bend the switch blades down to compensate? or is there another method
of adjusting them? It would seem if I had to bend the blades that it
might make the button come through a bit at an angle?

Those pedestal style rollover that I assume you're talking about are a
pain to get just right. One of the big problems is it's hard to
adjust(bend) the switchblade while the button is installed...I try to
get it adjusted before the button is on, but often more is needed and
I will even take the button back off if neccesary.

2. The lamps on the upper static bumpers and the three jet bumpers on
the top part of the playfield are not working, but the static bumpers
closer to the bottom are lit up, as are all the other lights. Any
ideas or a place I should start looking for the problem?

Check the schematic to see if those are all wired together. Often the
"common" wire is run to multiple components. A gground wire will be
stapled to the underside of the PF that runs to multiple
points...check for breaks in this, and look for the wire that juices
it to make sure it's still attached. Also, it sounds dumb, but how
about the bulbs?

3. There is a terminal block in the back box that has the label
"Automatic Relay Adjustment for Numbers 1 to 10" the options are on/
off. What is this for?

This might be the match unit "on-off" plug, or maybe it has something
to do with the 1-10 sequence which is the object on this game. Don't
you try to collect 1-10 during gameplay?

4. There is another block in the back boxthat deals with a
conservative vs. liberal setting and I assume this isn't anything to
do with politics =) What's it for?

That plug changes gameplay options between easier(liberal) and
harder(conservative). The manual will tell you what this plug changes
as well as the answer to your last question...if this game has one.
Did you ask Steve Young for the manual to this game? I'm not exactly
sure when Wlms started with the manuals...my 67 Wlms Kickoff has
one...not sure about 64.
