A refrigerator on the same line could cause problems when it goes on and
off.
If you suspect something screwey in the wiring, I would get a pro in there
to make sure things are safe. LTG :)

My sister in law lives in an older house with who knows what kind of
wiring in the basement (walls are closed up).
She has a SYS80 Spiderman that ran well for a while but when the air
conditioner was running (last summer), Spidey would die, especially
when the compressor kicked in.
There were other problems with the machine like acid damage so I
eventually put in a ni-wumpf board, did all the grounding mods, and
replaced the cap.
It has been working so-so (I still suspect connector issues though I
re pinned the CPU to Driver board connector some time ago). She did
experience an anomaly recently where the machine died after one of the
kickout holes fired. I arrived to find one of the 5 amp fuses blown
and no 5 volt to the CPU board. (otherwise, outputs of power supply
all read proper).
In any case, we recently set her up with a Bally EM Night Rider.
Interestingly, if playing Night Rider and you turn on Spiderman, the
Night Rider dims and then resets. (note: this is the EM version, not
solid state). If we reset Night Rider then bring up Spiderman,
sometimes it comes up without any displays (maybe a coincidence).
All in all, something screwy is going on. I jammed a DMM into the
wall socket and found 118 volts. Not sure yet what the rating of the
circuit is or what else is on it. Does anybody know what these two
video games normally pull, what else I should check as far as the
house wiring is concerned.... something is for sure screwy.
I should add that they put a UPS on the line between the wall and the
pinball machines and problems persist. Could it be cycle (ie. 60 hz)
problems, having enough amps to drive the machines, etc. Now that I
think about it, i think that they have a Refrigerator on the same line
but not sure if it was 'running' when the problems occurred. I would
think that the Air conditioner upstairs would be on a diff circuit.
Thanks.
