Re: How do I get 30VDC down to 12VDC?

Another thing. If you have a very well known load, you do not need a
regulator. You can do same job with a resistor. The end result is
the same. You are 'wasting' the excess voltage as heat. In both
cases, you will need to know the current of the motor to design this
properly.

You need to measure the current consumption of the motor before a
specific voltage regulator can be recommended.

Use a DVM in series with the motor hooked up to 18V. If you do not do
this, you risk blowing the regulator because of overheating or
overcurrent.

Hi, I picked up a High Speed and the beacon was replaced with one from
Happ, It looks like the voltage was changed to DC with a Bridge
Rectifier, but I seem to be getting 29Volts out of it to the Beacon,
How do I drop it down to 12? It blows the lamp pretty quick and the
thing rotates way to fast. Is there an easy way to drop the voltage,
or is something hooked up wrong through the bridge?

Hook up a 12V regulator that doesn't mind a 30v input, and is able to
handle the current draw of the motor. (probably will need a heat sink)
