Re: Just a Rant Pin Auctions Ending Early

I also sell on Ebay and will voice my opinion.. First, I don't usually end
auctions early. What really pisses me off is when nobody bids on the item
until the last few seconds of the auction. I have no idea if the item is
going to sell or if it will go for 1 buck.. Now to answer the "you should
put the starting pice higher" crowd.. I do that and the item doesn't sell
99% of the time! You are screwed either way.. I wish there was a way to
prevent sniping at the last minute. Those sellers you are venting about
probably feel like I do..

I just need to vent for a minute. I am so frustrated with pin sellers
on ebay who end their auctions early! In December I was watching 5
different machines. They were all ended early by the sellers. Some of
the sellers I contacted and asked if the machine was for sale locally
and I was told no, only on ebay and that it would go to the end. Same
thing in January.

Fine, so I bid and get cancelled so they can end it. Or I am watching
so I can snipe it at the end and they end it early.

So far, I've had 2 Gilligan's Islands, 1 Black knight, 1 black hole
and a few others with the last being a Kiss that was just ended early
by the seller. I'm also a seller but I have never ended an aution
early no matter what the offer. Highest bidder wins and that is that.
If I need a certain dollar amount then it starts off at that price or
I put a reserve on it.

If you're listing a machine, stick to it and encourage people to bid.
The ending auction price will probably be much more than whatever the
buyer is offering you. If you're not going to honor the listing then
instead put it for sale on pin classifieds or craigslist or here on
RGP.

I am sure I am not the only one getting frustrated by some of the
sellers lately, esp, NJ, PA & northeast areas. Anyone else missing out
on pins on ebay? I just don't get why sellers do this.
