I had the same problem with mine, turned out to be a bad connection on
the driver board. It was a pain to track down because I would monkey
with the switch and it would seen to fix it for a while only to act up
again. Of course your problem might not be the same as mine (might be
a bad connection somewhere else).

Turns out I only needed to adjust the switch that the ball sits upon
before being launched. Before I found that out, I took the two coils
out from that area and cleaned the sleeves and now they work better
and respond quicker. Before I cleaned them , during test they were
sticking sometimes and not returning to the rest position. After the
cleaning they were quick to respond and no delayed response.
