The lowest price I've seen at Midwest distributors is $3750. Western
distributors are $3890. ALL of these distributors, who cater to route
operators charge another $150 to $275 for "factory freight" plus the
local sales tax. That does not get the box to your home. You pick up
at their dock or they deliver to you for an additional fee.

Those prices are generally reserved for route operators. Home use
buyers usually get charged more. For example, C. A. Robinson, a major
Los Angeles distributor to route operators and featured donor of pins
on the teevee show The Price is Right shows $4595 on their website for
new Sterns. That no doubt includes freight fees from Chicago to LA and
local home delivery. Just add sales tax!

At the recent AVS open house in Elk Grove Village, Illinois in late
October, I was quoted the "Open House Special" for WoF of $3650, plus
(only) $75 for shipping from Melrose Park to there (8 miles) which is
cheaper than tow truck rates. I had to add sales tax (total $4007).
Games would be available for pick up in two weeks per the Stern sales
rep (no names).

All of these distributors who cater to route operators give you the
Stern limited warranty: 2 months on PC Boards and 9 months on the DMD.
The distributors who cater to home gameroom collectors (no names, per
your request) give you a much stronger warranty for all circuit
boards. That built-in extended warranty may or may not have value to
you.

I worked for a route operator awhile back. I am able to get the
operator price on new equipment and have done so on a couple of Merit
touch screens and upgrade "quick click" kits. For pins, I choose to go
the other way as the bottom line price is $140 more but gives me a
better warranty and the crate is delivered to my garage.
