Think of water flow.

If you put a valve inline with a water meter, it does not matter if
you put the valve on the high pressure side or the return side. You
can control the flow in the same way in both cases.

The pressures will be different between the valve and the water meter,
but the flow will be dependent only on the opening of the valve.

I posted yesterday about connecting an led to the flasher circuit
(Thank you Ed Cheung for your response).
I've done a little more web reading and basically it comes down to
this, from what I understand.
I'll connect a resistor to the cathode (negative) leg of the led. The
hot wire will go to the anode (positive) leg. the ground wire will
then be connected to the other end of the resistor. Simple enough.
Heres my question - how can the resistor be limiting the power if its
not between the "hot" wire and the led???

But why doesnt the led blow if the resistor is not in line BEFORE it?
