It is always ok to use a higher voltage rated capacitor.
It is ok to use a higher Capacity [Aka: mfd] in this case. bigger is
better, up to a point [No room to mount it, cost too high, etc.].
General rule of thumb: 2,000mfd per Amps mininum.
Special Note: This capacitor is for the 5 volt power, but it is on the
input to the regulator (which will have about double the output). that
is why the voltage rating is higher than 5 volts. 4 times the output
would be better (less stress). 20 volts would be good.
Your cap would be great choice. Just hook it up the right way, or you
will have a stink bomb go off !
Too much concern about "current rush". Not an issue.
