Re: My Indiana Jones just died!

I wouldn't call you an idiot. You had a problem, and you figured it out.
Many years ago when RCA had in home TV repair, the person you called always
asked if the set was plugged in, 50% of their service calls were to plug in
sets. And you didn't know the cord could unplug from the cabinet.

You learned more about your game, and fixed it. I would only hope all your
repairs were that simple. And you posted the fix, which eventually will help
others.

Good job Gary ! LTG :)

They might have "nudged" the plug out of the back of the machine...

Short Story:
I am an idiot.

Long Story:

I assumed the switch broke so I started to tear it apart. That means
removing the metal box that covers the switch. It's right up against
the cabinet. I open the metal box and disconnected the switch. I
stopped at Home and bought another switch.

Before doing much more, I used the meter on the fuses to make sure
they were ok. I then checked my original switch and it was ok too!

I decided to check the machine from the plug into the machine.

My Indy came from France and you know how the french are! I took apart
the new american plug and it was ok. I then wanted to follow the wire
into the cabinet and up to the switch. That's when I found the real
problem. I was unaware that the power cable was removable like a
computers.

The kids had also been playing hide & seek and were under both
machines. The real issue was that they had nudged the power cable out
of the machine. I put it all back together and, viola! it's sprang
back to life.

Take your pick:
Much ado about nothing.
Learn something new every day.
I am an idiot.
