I will throw my name in the hat for JWJ being one of the great guys. He

other hard to find parts. I hope that I can do the same for him some day.

John is a great guy no doubt about it, whenever I have a ROM issue I
know I can email him and he will give me a straight answer.
The amount of work that John Does to deliver a set of ROMS is
definately worth the small service charge in my opinion. Lets Break
down his fees: (these are estimates based on personal experience
burning my own ROMs)
South Park ROM set (.90) Seven (7) ROMS needed to change from
production game to Profane. $45.00 (or $30 at expo)
Avg cost of 4meg roms $2.50 x 7 total = $17.50
Lets Just assume John Got nice clean Label free blank ROMS that he
doesn't have to erase or remove label residue
Time to Burn 4meg ROM using PPII = 6Minutes (varies depending on PC
speed) x 7 =42 minutes
Time to verify Checksum on 4meg ROM using PPII = 1 minute x 7 = 7
minutes
Cost of Ebay listing = $2.75 give or take a special listing sale or
two
Labels for Each ROM= $.17 (assuming 18 or so labels per $3.00 of
adhesive backed thermal printing Paper) x 7 =$1.19
Nifty little Anti Static Rom Baggies = $1.00 each
Shipping cost and expenses cancel each other out so we will disregard
those.
We will also Pretend that the PC that John uses was purchased as a
family computer.
We will ignore the cost of bandwidth for his site
We will also ignore the cost of electricity to run his webserver, PC,
ROM burner, ROM Eraser
$22.50 Cost of Goods = $22.50 Hypothetical cost of ROM burning
Service. Assuming the Demand was there for John to work 20 hours per
week He could hypothetically Bring in $450 / week or a whopping
$22,500 per year ($16,875 after Uncle Sams Cut assuming John is in the
25% tax bracket) for the service he provides.
If you were to purchase the equipment necessary to burn your own ROMS
it would cost hundreds to burn your first ROM.
I will continue to Support John whenever possible, and I encourage
everyone else to do so, I do not see his service as an attempt to
profit from the pinball community in a significant manner, but to help
those who only need a set or two or ROMs burned in a lifetime get them
at an affordable price.

I have had numerous dealings with John Wart Jr. and in every instance
John was unfailingly polite, professional and provided a valuable
service for a very reasonable price. He knows his business well, and
does it well. I wish there were more vendors (and people) like him.
In my book, John Wart Jr. is a very good man. It is sad to see an ill
informed poster question his business practices in a desperate bid for
attention.
