Re: G&R's questions; why are they different?

There were ball launch problems if games weren't set right so they remade

The sets of lights can be adjusted to point anywhere. I have both of mine
pointing towards the left.

The one with the head phone jacks is a early game that was shipped over
seas
with the 3 coin slots. The black rails were a mistake right out of the
game
from Data East and caused many ball launch problems. They soon fixed it
by
making the rest of the games with the chrome rails. The spot lights are
supposed to be on all games I believe, I've never seen one without them.
The head phones I'm not sure the exact story why unless they figured that
most people that bought the game wanted to keep the music down to just
that
player since not everyone was a GnR fan...??
I would keep the cabinet without the head phones jacks.
Hope this helps.

BTW: Which translite did you get? Production or prototype ?

Hello RGP... I recently acquired (2) G&R's. There are a few significant
differences on them, can you help?

BTW: They were both made w/i 2 weeks of each other in 7/94

Game A has this;
All black habitrails
An added headphone volume up/down adjustment, on the front of cabinet,
under pistol ball launch.
Coin door has 3 slots w/ DM coin slot tags
2 spot lights, at the rear of game, attached near G & R ramps, both
pointing towards G ramp

Game B has this;
Chrome ball shooter lane (the rest of the habitrails are black)
Left spot light towards G ramp, right spot pointing at player.

My plan is to completely take them both down, clean and rebuild them.
I'll place the best parts on my "keeper". Both cabinets have minor
issues (nicks, dings, scratches Cab. A headphone control & Cab. B 2-
holes drilled for lock bar.
Which cabinet would you keep?

Thanks for your input!

Kerry Richard

Most of the G&R's picts I've seen have both lights pointing towards
the G ramp. A couple people have emailed me directly, indicating the
correct placement of the lamps are; G side pointing at R side and R
side pointing at the G side. Still not sure what is correct?

I do know, I'll try to keep the all black habitrail / wireforms. I
think that looks best to me. Still not sure on the headphone volume
look on the front of the cabinet (German export I understand) vs. the
clean look of the US version. However, the US version has 2 small lock
bar holes drilled in front of the cabinet.

Thanks
Kerry Richard
