If reseating a connector (other than ribbon cables)
"fixes"/changes any problems, all you have is identify the
problem. a re-seat is not a fix. Now the ribbon cables
are a different animal, and yes i would suggest a
reseat of those, and if that "fixes" anything, then stop
there and call it good. But on .156" molex connectors,
a reseat "fix" just identifies a problem, and the connector
should be re-pinned.
When you say the lights flicker, do you mean
the GI or the computer controlled game lights
(like bonus numbers, etc)?
if it's the GI (which i think is what you're talking
about), chances are excellent that the GI
connectors on the driver board j120/j121
are cooked and needed to be replaced.
if it's the CPU controlled game lights, that's
different. i would suspect a cracked plated
thru hole for it's bridge rectifier as that problem
(or maybe the fuse/fuse holder).
