Well, it isn't quite finished, but it works!

Nuggy has completed the software. Its NPC v37 - I asked him how he had
got to v 37 already, he told be that's due to 36 f*** ups! :)

I've posted four new videos to the web site showing a very incomplete
but fully functional machine in play. While perhaps not obvious, the
fact that the system is able to detect and deal with the ball in play,
monitor when it drains and feed the next and keep count etc, has
proven the concept. Adding the rest of the features (other controlled
solenoids and lights) is now just a matter of time to do all of that.
Light control has been tested separately and works flawlessly.

I was sceptical at the start, but now see that it is really possible
for a PC controlled system to work. We are now talking about producing
an input/output board. That (plus nuggy's operating software) is all
that will be needed for anyone to take a PC and use it to drive a home
made machine.

I'm toying with the idea of finding a system 11 beater machine locally
and creating a rule set for it under this system as a quick way to
show how easily it can be used to create rules of your own. This will
make for a quick way to demonstrate it can drive a number of solenoids
and all the lamps etc (without having to make the field from scratch).

To see the new videos, check the Update 7 September 2007 link on the
Construction page.
