Now before you all trash me for this, just read and put some
intelligent thought into it.

Something tells me you don't really care what other people have to say.

EBAY in my opinion has almost forced shill bidding on expensive items.
They charge you coming and going.

Well, I agree with you there. By making all auctions private, they've
made it very easy to shill anything. That's one reason why I won't go
near ebay for anything over $200 anymore.

If I am listing a large ticket item.... it costs much less to list it
at $.99 than $4000. Which equates to $.20 vs $4.80 listing fee (over
$500) or if you want a reserve $40 for $4000 reserve (1%). Plus all
other fees they try and get you for..gallery, picture..etc. Then if it
goes to Paypal (another service I refuse to use.don't even get me
started). More fees.I think we all know who is making money here...

Why should I pay this if I don't have to? I can list at .99, have
"someone" bid it up to $4000 and it saves me money.

Why DO you pay it? Just slap a "FS: blah blah blah $4K" price tag on it
and be done with it, no fees whatsoever. If it sells, someone was
willing to pay it. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

The point is that there are two competing factors here... As a seller
you're trying to get the most money for your item. As a buyer, you're
trying to pay the least amount for an item. It's human nature. Except
with shill bidding, the table gets tilted far to the side of the seller.

The other point is, if it is bid up to $4000 and you only want to pay
$3800 for it.... don't bid. No one is twisting your arm to pay more
than you want for it. Set a price and if it goes for more than
that...don't bid "pretty simple". You have the ultimate choice to
bid or not.... don't blame other people for your weaknesses.

That's how an intelligent person goes about bidding on ebay. (Not saying
other ways aren't intelligent, just that setting a firm upper price limit
*is* intelligent.)

If people list their items...shill bid them to their otherwise
"reserve" or starting price it's their choice, they still have to pay
the ending fees if it doesn't sell, or if it sells to "themselves".

No they don't. All they have to do is open an account, shill it, then
file a non-paying-bidder complaint against the shill. Bingo! Free
shill!

By the way, I am not sure if most of you realize, most auctions (if
not all) have people in the crowd that are "shill bidding" on items to
protect them from selling too cheap. Don't think this just goes on in
the EBAY world; it has been going on forever and will continue.

Yeah, that happens. Not sure how it's relevent, as if it sold for
whatever they bid, they'd still be required to buy it.

I can see that most of you think this is deceitful, but I think you
have to view it from a seller's perspective. It is done to protect
investment.

So is racketeering, but that doesn't make it any less against the law!

Now I am sure you will all trash me now for this opinion, but you all
know deep down that this is all true, and if you were selling your HUO
MM on EBAY and it was going for $2000.I bet you would either cancel
the auction "because the item was no longer for sale" or you would
have "a friend" bid it up to make sure you got it back or it sold for
"your pre-determined" selling price.

Maybe, maybe not. I'd be willing to bet that a HUO MM wouldn't be at $2K
in the first place. Secondly, I'd also be willing to bet that someone
would snipe it at the last second for substantially more than that.

Now if any of you have an individual thought among you, please feel
free to respond with intelligent comments.

Why do I have the feeling that I'm going to regret writing this reply?
Meh...
