why else do you think they skyrocketed? did they make a small amount?
is it the best machine to play? does it hold up against abuse more
than any other machine (location workhorse)? does it have a theme with
a cult following like KISS? is it an antique? did it make the most
coin drop out of any pinball machine on location when it was new, or
even now?
there is no other explanation.....

imho, supply and demand have many factors,
We could add seasonality to your list. Each summer, prices have a
slump, since some of the potential buyers are not playing pinball, or
looking to buy one. When the climate changes, and we begin to cacoon
in the northern states, the prices see an upswing.
Also, aggregate demand may shift as the buyers' age increase.
