have you tested continuity all the way back to the board?

maybe swap pins between the circuit that works and the one that doesnt
work?

Not too familiar with the circuit (mine hasnt broken yet) so make sure
thats a good idea before trying it ;)

do these have tip 102s that drive them? do those test good?

Ok, I am officially out of ideas on this thing as to why the back
lights on the main ramp and the bowl lights don't work. These lights
are controlled from connection J3 on the chase light board. I've tried
everything I can and they still don't work.
Here's what I've done:
- reflowed the solder on the board connectors
- reflowed the solder on the light board connections
- reflowed the solder on the light pins
- checked the pre transistors and they all checked good
- swapped the triacs with the ones from J4 (where the lights worked)
and the lights connected to J4 still worked
- replaced both 74LS139 and ULN2803 chips
- checked the wires going to the lights that aren't working - checked
good.

I am officially stumped and I don't like to admit when I can't fix
something, but I have no idea why these damn lights aren't working!

Can anyone help me with this, or know how to fix this board? I'm at
the point where I'll send it out and pay someone to fix it! Please
help!

Thanks!

Not yet. I guess I just assumed (you know what that means) that if the
J4 connector is working that it's getting voltage, so the J3 must be
getting voltage. I'll check that tonight. Guess I should've done that
a long time ago....so if I don't get voltage where should I go from
there? The thing that frustrates me is that this isn't a very
complicated circuit, so I should be able to figure it out. I'll check
for voltages and let you know what I come up with.

Yeah, I checked continuity from the connector at the flexible light
boards back to the chase board and both non working strands were ok.

I did plug the non working ramp flex light board into the connector
coming from J4 and the lights worked, so I know it's not a light board
problem and it's something on the chase light board or possibly in
front of that. I'm going to check the voltages tonight and see what I
get.

No, they aren't TIP102s, they have a pre driver tansistor which are
2N4403's and they all checked good for both light circuits. Then there
are some Triacs BT138E's that are right before the connectors going to
the lights. I wasn't sure how to check those, so I did it the hard way
and swapped the ones on the non working light circuit with the ones in
the working light circuit and the lights off of J4 still worked, so I
know it wasn't a triac problem.

The plan is to check the voltages from J126-8 on the power driver
board that goes to the chase light board. Maybe I have a problem
there. Gotta wait till I get home though.......why does work always
get in the way of the important stuff!! :)
